Patient Safety Wales

Patient Safety is the avoidance of unintended or unexpected harm to patients during the provision of health care. The NHS Wales Delivery Unit supports organisations in NHS Wales in improving safety and quality, developing safer environments and reducing avoidable harm.

Patient Safety assurance and improvements are the priority across the whole Delivery Unit and a dedicated Quality and Safety Team provide leadership and support on incident reporting, learning from incidents and never events, compliance with patient safety solutions and, where required, assurance reviews in NHS Health Boards and Trusts.

“The best way to reduce harm ... is to embrace wholeheartedly a culture of learning.”
Don Berwick, August 2013
